While parts of the country got a total eclipse yesterday, Vegas saw the moon covering just over 50 percent of the sun at the peak moment. So when do we finally get to experience the whole thing?

America’s Next Total Eclipse
Yesterday was the last chance to view a total eclipse in the contiguous United States for 20 years — or more specifically, until August 22, 2044. In yet another bummer, totality will only cover North Dakota and Montana.

But wait! What about Nevada?
Just shy of a year later — on August 12, 2045 — a total eclipse will pass over Nevada 🥳 But Vegas will miss out again 🙄 However, Reno, Elko, Ely, and other northern parts of the state will be in line to experience the full eclipse. (And by then, we’ll have a hyperloop to get there in 20 minutes — right?)
🌒 Okay Really, What About Vegas?
Sorry, a total eclipse won’t happen in Vegas during at least most of our lifetimes. But we’ll still get some eclipse activity, including a total lunar eclipse (when the Earth casts a shadow on the moon) on March 14, 2025 and March 3, 2026. The next partial eclipse (similar to what Vegas saw yesterday) is January 14, 2029, so save those glasses for then.
