Ramadan runs 30 days, from March 12 to April 9 this year. For those who observe, including a growing population of 10,000 Muslims in Las Vegas, the holy month involves a daily fast from sunrise to sunset. When it’s time to eat at Iftar (the meal that breaks the fast), the following restaurants are ready to serve delicious food with Ramadan in mind.
Lazeez Indian Mediterranean Grill
Lazeez is known for its daily lunch buffet on the corner of Durango and Desert Inn. A dinner version is offered on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during Ramadan — and may expand to more days if demand is there. The evening buffet is $24.99 and is more meat-forward than usual, featuring a rotating array of dishes that can include Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, and curries made with beef, lamb, or goat. There will still be at least one vegan and vegetarian option with three appetizers, soup, salad, rice, unlimited bread, rose water, and two desserts.
Maza Grill
Maza Grill has an evening buffet available throughout Ramadan with various forms of Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, including soup, salad, a choice of four main entrees, appetizers, and dessert. The cost is $35 for adults and $20 for kids. The restaurant also has its own version of gullac, a traditional Ramadan dessert that combines walnuts with a pastry made of rice wafers.
Istanbul Mediterranean Restaurant
This fast-casual restaurant at the Grand Bazaar Shops in front of the Horseshoe could be the best place to break a fast on the Strip. Istanbul Mediterranean Restaurant serves a variety of take-out food that follows Halal traditions in preparation, including gyros, kebabs, and shawarma.
Silver Sage Foundation
The Silver Sage Foundation is hosting an Interfaith Iftar Dinner with the Epiphany Episcopal Church (10450 Gilespie Street) on Friday, March 15 and the Annual Southern Nevada Interfaith Signature Iftar Dinner on Saturday, March 16 near Green Valley Parkway & Ramrod Avenue. Both events begin at 6:30 p.m. and are free in the spirit of community building with online reservations available.
