🍽️ Eat the Right Thing

Here’s a feelgood heads up: Restaurant Week 2023 begins Monday. It’s a major fundraiser for the valley’s biggest food bank, Three Square. You surely know the drill — dozens of local restaurants offer RW specials; when you order them, a portion of the proceeds goes to help fight hunger. Continues through June 16. [Three Square]

👩‍🍳 When One Fridge Door Closes, Another Opens

Although she’s closing her much-loved Vegas Test Kitchen on Saturday, food impresario Jolene Mannina won’t be out of the chef-incubator biz for long. She’s working with Dapper Companies to open a new one near the Huntridge neighborhood. [Review-Journal]

🍩 Readers’ Favorite Donuts

Today is National Donut Day, and in conjunction with today’s podcast episode (🎧), I asked about your favorite donut shops:

Ernest R.: Sunrise Donuts. "Very reasonable prices and the type of place where they know your name/order."

Gordon Absher: Friendly Donut House in Henderson. "Best apple fritters and old fashioneds (the donut, not the drink; if they served booze I would move my office there ...)."

Donna W.: Gabi Boutique in Henderson. “Most people like the crème brûlée donut — I prefer the strawberry cream."

Joanne: Dee’s Donuts, Durango and Centennial. “Family owned and yummy."

M. Beebee: SugarMochi on Rainbow. “It sells a variety of delicious, chewy, mochi donuts. My favorite flavors are the taro and ube. Pricey at $3 a donut, but isn’t everything these days?"

Scott Swingle: “My local Albertsons does a good job."
