Michele Fiore was found guilty of federal conspiracy and wire fraud charges, misusing police officer memorial funds for her own personal use.

The Republican is a former Las Vegas City Council member (including a run as Mayor Pro Tem) and is currently suspended as Nye County Justice of the Peace.

Prosecutors argued that Fiore raised money through her campaign and political action committee for a statue honoring fallen Metro officer Alyn Beck, but dipped into those funds to cover rent, plastic surgery, and her daughter’s wedding.

During the trial, the jury heard from Governor Joe Lombardo (whose campaign for sheriff donated $5,000 to the fund) and Fiore’s daughter, Sheena Siegel, whose testimony was stricken after repeatedly pleading the Fifth.

Fiore herself weighed taking the stand, but declined after conferring with the judge.

Jurors heard closing arguments on Thursday morning and reached a verdict in less than two hours.

Sentencing is January 6, 2025 at 1:35pm.
