I love peanut butter and jelly anything. Not so much the sandwiches, but the flavor profile repackaged in unexpected ways. I even wrote a story about PB&J Old Fashioneds years ago for a defunct publication named Supercall (although the accompanying recipe by a local mixologist was reprinted elsewhere). But my favorite place for peanut butter and jelly is on a good burger. Sounds weird, but it totally works — and the following restaurants agree.
🍔 Seventy Six Taverns
Seventy Six, a new locals-oriented sports bar by Station Casinos, has two North Las Vegas locations — and both serve the PB&J Smash Burger. The recipe has a spicy kick, thanks to a house-made raspberry-jalapeno jam. A pair of short rib-and-chuck patties get smashed on the grill for a nice crust while both halves of the bun are smeared with peanut butter and griddled until golden brown. The kitchen adds it all together with pickles and American cheese for one indulgent, delicious bite.
🍔 Slater’s 50/50
Whether at the location in Silverado Ranch or the Northwest Valley, Slater’s 50/50 has not one, but two, of these burgers. The P.B. & Jealousy has been on the menu since day one, layering a flame-grilled angus beef patty, thick-cut bacon, melted peanut butter, and strawberry jelly on a honey wheat bun. (You can substitute a 50/50 patty — half beef, half ground bacon — at no extra charge for extra smokiness.) The Interstellar Oozer is a new AREA 51-themed lunch special, stuffing a beef patty, peanut butter, and strawberry jelly into a sealed, toasted sesame bun that’s designed to look like a UFO, although it kinda resembles an Uncrustable 👀
🍔 Bar Code Burgers
The King Burger at Bar Code Burgers takes inspiration from the “peanut butter and ‘nanner” sandwiches Elvis Presley loved. The recipe tops a beef patty with a peanut butter spread, caramelized bananas, strips of applewood-smoked bacon, and a drizzle of Mike’s Hot Honey. Bar Code Burgers is a fun sports bar east of the Strip with various specials at any given time.
🍔 Lazy Dog
Lazy Dog is best known for its pet-friendly policies, welcoming doggies to hang out with their owners on large covered patios. A new Henderson location just opened a few weeks ago, to go along with the ones in Downtown Summerlin and Town Square. Bring your pup and ask for the PB & J Burger, which combines a half-pound burger with peanut butter, grape jelly, candied bacon, and havarti cheese with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Bonus: Lazy Dog is serving $1 wings until April 10.
