I have a limited enthusiasm for overt sweet-savory combinations. But this chipotle sausage donut sandwich at the newish Gabi Boutique in Henderson had me tapping into my inner “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” to Guysplain the taste: “You get the sweet from the donut, but it’s not too sweet, and then the richness of the sausage; but what really makes this dish is the little bit of heat from the chipotle mayo. It’s the real deal, bro. Now, check out my hair.” Not pictured, also delicious: the strawberry cheesecake donut. While you chew, listen to our (🎧) Great Donut Throwdown episode. 🍨 Ice Cream Report

City Cast’s lead producer Sonja Cho Swanson checks in from Salt & Straw, the ballyhooed high-end ice cream shop new to the UnCommons: “Their flavors are inventive and nudge at the boundaries of what we’d consider a good taste in ice cream,” she says. “But, somehow, a tofu cupcake in ice cream just works.” She offers a pro tip: Wear a hat. “Beware of long lines and an unfortunate design that leaves queuers standing in direct sun.”

☕ More Coffee in the Northwest

The Centennial Hills area isn’t hurting for good coffee — the great Grouchy John’s recently opened in the area — but there’s always room for a fresh cup. Beans & Brews, a Utah-based company that hypes its high-altitude, low-temperature roasting technique, has opened its first Vegas spot at Rancho and Craig Road. Bonus: free wi-fi! [KSNV]

🍺 Blooming Brew

Next week, the Able Baker Brewing Co. will debut its latest IPA, the Nevada State Flower. It supposedly celebrates the orange traffic cone. [Review-Journal]
