You may have heard: there’s an election coming up, but we’ve got plenty of other reasons to welcome November — and most of ‘em are a lot more fun. From festivals to our first glimpse of winter holiday lights, it’s promising to be a busy month in Las Vegas. So put on a sweater and check out the following events and activities.
🍹 Día de los Muertos
Halloween is over, but Día de los Muertos is here to raise the roof — and raise the dead 💀 We’ve already listed a few family-friendly celebrations on our events page, but you can also booze it up at Borracha at Green Valley Ranch (Nov. 1), Todo Bien at UnCommons (Nov. 1 - 2), and Wax Rabbit, which is transforming into House of Wax through Nov. 3 at Durango. Aroma Latin American Cocina, has a special menu, featuring dishes like Wagyu enchiladas and Cheese Stuffed Zucchini Flower tacos (Nov. 1 - 2). If you’re on the Strip, head to China Poblano by José Andrés, which has a Día de Los Muertos Festival Menu through Nov. 3. Other Mama chef Dan Krohmer is throwing a Día de los Muertos block party for the grand opening of Chamanas Café (Nov. 2).
⛷️ Ski Season at Lee Canyon
Breaking news: Lee Canyon is kicking off the winter season early on Saturday, November 2, thanks to colder-than-usual temperatures in the Spring Mountains. In addition to an already planned Pray For Snow party, visitors can continue to use the mountain bike trail in addition to skiing and snowboarding down the slopes.
🥃 Ardbeg Masters of Smoke Tour
The Ardbeg Masters of Smoke Tour comes to Total Wine & More at Town Square Nov. 1 (2 - 5 p.m.) and Nov. 2 (11 a.m. - 2 p.m.). Visitors board a decked-out airstream, roaming between five scent stations to learn about the smoke profiles in Ardbeg single malt scotch. The best part: you get to try neat sips and cocktails — for free 😀
🎄 Winter Holiday Lights
As we discussed on City Cast Las Vegas, the first sign of the winter holidays is at the Ethel M chocolate factory in Henderson. The nightly holiday Cactus Garden lights are just $3 admission (which goes to charity). If you prefer to stay in your car, head to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway when the Glittering Lights drive-thru exhibit returns on Nov. 8.
⛳ Swingers
Take a swing at a new 21-and-over mini-golf course at Mandalay Bay. Swingers takes over the space formerly home to Light nightclub, inviting guests to play one of four themed courses, while enjoying booze and food. If you love great pizza, try the Detroit-style pies by Emmy Squared.
🎵 Convention Center Festivals
SEMA, a trade show for the automotive industry, is inviting the general public to a pair of affiliated music festivals. The Goo Goo Dolls headline Industry Night @ SEMA on Nov. 5, while Cage the Elephant and Sublime headline SEMA Fest on Nov. 8. It all takes place at the Convention Center, which also welcomes ComplexCon for the first time Nov. 16 - 17. The event taps into pop culture and hip-hop, hosting a series of photogenic pop-up vendor stations, a food festival, and live performances by Travis Scott and other artists.
