City Cast Las Vegas recently dug deep into the legacy of the steakhouse in Las Vegas. The episode made us hungry — and eager to discuss our favorite picks around town.
Jean Georges is currently my favorite steakhouse on the Strip. The Aria restaurant serves true certified Kobe, but the F1 Wagyu-Angus blend is a welcome, less expensive alternative.
I love the signature marinated ribeye cap at Barry’s Downtown Prime as well as the tableside presentations I wrote about in Las Vegas Weekly last year.
Scotch 80 Prime is the complete package at the Palms. The dedication to sourcing beef is incredible and the menu has a few fun surprises like empanadas stuffed with ground A5 Wagyu.
Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres is the best reason to visit the Sahara, featuring indulgent tasting menus that prompted my wife and I to coin the phrase “defeated by food.”
The rest of the City Cast Las Vegas team shared some thoughts on steakhouses they’re excited about these days …
“I have had an incredible dining experience at Cleaver. It’s one of those restaurants hidden away in an unsuspecting strip mall.”
— Sarah Lohman, co-host
“Do Brazilian steakhouses count? I love the quality of ingredients at Texas de Brazil at Town Square. They have a great selection of every kind of meat.”
— Layla Muhammad, producer
“I'm looking forward to Cote at the Venetian, which is opening soon! I’m very curious how they’re going to bring the high-end Strip approach to Korean barbecue, which is typically grilled tableside and portioned into small bites with flavorful sides.”
— Sonja Cho Swanson, executive producer
“I don't think The Steakhouse at Circus Circus is anywhere near the value it once was, but it does have all the vestiges of that throwback era — the room where you see the aged beef, the waiters all dressed up, the giant martinis, the shrimp cocktail. It’s always delicious. It's just sooo pricey.”
— Dayvid Figler, co-host
