Your Guide to May 2025 in Las Vegas

00:00:00

The first thing you need to do in May is make sure you have a REAL ID. Then, spend some time by the pool, reset your sprinklers, and check out all the other cool stuff to do this month.

🛩️ Learning to Fly

All In Aviation welcomes the general public for an open house May 1 to mark an expansion at the Henderson Executive Airport. There will be two presentations on learning how to fly (and trust me, it doesn’t hurt to diversify your skillset in this questionable economy) as well as simulator demos, food, drinks, and most important of all — photo ops with private aircraft.

🪐 A Celebration of ‘Star Wars’

May 4 (as in “May the Fourth” be with you) is becoming a de facto holiday for Stars Wars nerds around the world. Las Vegas is no exception with the official opening of “The Empire Strips Back,” a parody burlesque show inside the Rio’s old Chippendales theater. You can also catch the original film at the Beverly Theater May 4, and free screenings/events over the next week or so at various valley libraries. Millennium Fandom has a May 4 party and The Nerd has a cosplay party on May 3, with “Revenge of the 5th” at the stroke of Midnight on May 4/5. (Ok, this is getting out of hand.)

🎭 Outdoor Entertainment

Las Vegas has a great theater community that’s taking to outdoor stages this month. The Nevada Shakespeare Festival has a production of “Hamlet” in Cornerstone Park (select dates May 8-17) and “The Comedy of Errors” at Inspirada (May 3) and North Las Vegas (May 24). Super Summer Theatre kicks off a new season at Spring Mountain Ranch with “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat” on May 28.

🍷 UNLVino & Other Food Festivals

UNLVino returns to the Thomas & Mack Center on May 2 for a 50th Anniversary Grand Tasting. Pourings of wine, beer, and sake will be served alongside food from local restaurants — all to support UNLV hospitality students. But that’s not the only foodie fest this month:

🎸 Punk Rock Bowling

Sure, you can go see the debut of Kenny Chesney at the Sphere, but Punk Rock Bowling has shows throughout the city, from tiny clubs to the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, May 24-26. It’s the perfect time to also visit the Punk Rock Museum with tours led by some of the genre's most notorious legends.

🎰 Las Vegas History Relived

The Nevada Preservation Foundation presents Home + History tours of homes, neighborhoods, and even a cemetery, May 1-4. Show even more hometown Nevada spirit during the Helldorado Days parade on May 10.
