Where to See Shooting Stars Near Vegas
The best and brightest meteor shower of the year peaks tonight, August 11th — and believe it or not, you can find some incredible night sky viewing just a couple hours outside of Las Vegas, one of the brightest cities in the country. Co-host Sarah Lohman talks with Mig Ponce, president of the Las Vegas Astronomical Society and founder of Stardust Astrotours. Mig explains why the Perseid Meteor shower is so bright, discusses why dark skies are so essential and so threatened, and shares his favorite stargazing spots within a few hours' drive of Las Vegas.
