| What Las Vegas's Talking About |
| | 🗳️ Socialists Aim to Reshape the Democratic Party | Anytime I even mention El Presidente or what ICE is doing, I get a wave of MAGA mail calling me a left-wing lunatic. Well, you’re gonna love this. City Cast Las Vegas discusses the candidates representing the Democratic Socialists of America in Nevada, and if the political climate is right for at least some independent voters to veer hard left this election season. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧] | | | 📚 Clark County Weighs Master Plan for Schools | The Clark County School District is asking the public to weigh in on a “master plan” to spend billions during a series of community forums. Some parents are complaining, saying details on proposals are slim so far. We do know money was spent on an outside firm to host the events, which include presentations and catered dinners. [Las Vegas Review-Journal] | | 🌎 Sphere Boxing Debut on the Ropes | Will a boxing megafight rematch at the Sphere between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao actually happen? Mayweather now says the Sphere isn't confirmed and the match would only be an exhibition, not a sanctioned bout. Pacquiao’s team says contracts already signed say otherwise and Mayweather would face millions in penalties if he pulled out. [Boxing Insider] | | 🎊 Happy Bruno Mars Day to Those Who Celebrate | In honor of two shows at Allegiant Stadium this weekend (or all that cash he’s rumored to drop at Vegas casinos), MGM Resorts is throwing a parade for Bruno Mars on the Strip Friday afternoon and renaming a road outside the Park MGM after him. | The Best Vegas Hotel Pools for Locals |
| | I want to be here. (The Resort at Summerlin) |
| Spring is here and the weather is getting warmer — on some days, at least. As Vegas hotels open their pools for the season, there’s no reason for locals to feel left out. | | 🏝️ Palms | The Palms Pool is open to non-hotel guests who are 21 and over. In a killer deal that’s almost too good to believe, anyone with a Nevada ID can book a free cabana Sunday-Friday (and seven days a week through April 30). | | 👙 Virgin Hotels | General admission is $20 (via walkup or online through ResortPass) for the main pool and free for the 21-and-over Kassi Beach Club at Virgin Hotels. The latter serves the entire menu from neighboring Kassi Beach House (one of Virgin’s best restaurants) without a poolside markup. | | ☀️ Sahara | The Pool at Sahara is open daily with free admission for locals 21 and over. And yes, the Sahara remains one of those rare resorts on the Strip with free parking. | | 🍹 Durango | Locals can hang by the Bel-Aire Backyard pool deck for as little as $30 admission, although there’s no cover when dining at the Backyard Grill. Those who work in hospitality get free admission on Industry Mondays. | | 🍇 The Resort at Summerlin | Formerly known as JW Marriott, the Resort at Summerlin has a newly renovated pool area to go along with its new name. Cabanas start as low as $200 (or $350 during peak season) with water bottles and a fruit plate included. Regular admission is $20 ($10 for kids under 10), although those prices increase by 10 bucks on May 1. Get a two-for-one admission deal Monday-Thursday. | | 🏊 The M Resort | Admission to M Pool for non-hotel guests is $15 (Monday–Thursday), $25 (Friday–Saturday), or $35 (holidays) with bottle service beginning at $150. Locals get half-price adult admission on Thursdays. A VIP Season Pass ($199 through April 30, $249 as of May 1) includes unlimited entry to both M Pool and the DayDream dayclub throughout the season. | | 🥂 Aria, MGM Grand & Venetian | Liquid Pool Lounge at the Aria gives locals free admission on Wednesdays, along with a champagne open bar for the ladies (12:30-1:30 p.m.), $200 bottle specials on tequila and vodka, and buy-one, get-one well cocktails. | - Dare to experience more dayclub fun? Locals get free admission and drink specials Wednesdays at Palm Tree Beach Club (MGM Grand) and Thursdays at Tao Beach (Venetian).
| | As always, deals can change at any moment 🤑 |
