Born and raised in Las Vegas, Tameka Henry is a devoted parent and community-focused leader with deep roots in Southern Nevada. She is widely recognized for her advocacy on behalf of women, children, and families, and has dedicated her professional life to improving conditions for working families and historically underserved residents. She was elected to represent District C on the Clark County School Board in 2024. In addition to her public service, Henry is the executive director of the Obodo Collective, a nonprofit focused on breaking cycles of generational poverty through sustained community support. The organization’s work spans housing stability efforts, family resource navigation, access to child care and mutual aid, and initiatives to reduce food insecurity. One of Obodo’s signature projects is its Urban Farm on the Historic Westside, a community space offering gardening education, culinary demonstrations, and greater access to fresh, locally grown produce.
With this year's opening of Obodo Grocer, a community-driven corner store in the heart of the Historic Westside, Tameka continues not only to highlight resources in the community, but to create them. The grocery store builds on her long-standing commitment to food access and neighborhood self-determination, offering fresh, affordable options while serving as a hub for connection, education, and mutual support. In her first year as a trustee for the Clark County School District, Tameka stepped into a governance role responsible for shaping district-wide policy, budgeting, and oversight — work critical to the well-being and success of thousands of students.
