Modesty requires us to sit this one out — though it doesn’t prevent me from noting that there’s really nothing else in town with the focus, brevity, production specs, and wide-ranging curiosity of City Cast Las Vegas. OK, promo over! When it comes to pods that take Vegas as their primary subject, here are some we love almost as much as ours:

This 13-episode series, now moribund, produced by UNLV’s Black Mountain Institute, remains a richly layered creative achievement, with long-tail content that’s still bracingly relevant. (Listen for City Cast’s own Dayvid Figler in Episode 5!)

🎙️ Mobbed Up

Over two seasons so far — a third is in production, set to debut later this year — this pod has taken deep, and deeply reported, looks at the reality behind the myths of organized crime in Las Vegas.

The 16 episodes of this KNPR-sponsored podcast delve deeply and empathetically into the lives, histories, and realities of Las Vegas’ Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.

A pair of improv comedians, plus special guests, break down the news, developments, and life in Las Vegas and the entertainment biz. Can be a little long, but don’t let that stop you.

Dining critic John Curtas, never one to hold back, extra doesn’t hold back on this food-centric podcast. But when it comes to restaurants, he knows his stuff. See also: Al Mancini’s Food and Loathing in Las Vegas.

🎙️Also check out: On the Corner of Main Street, in which Plaza CEO Jonathan Jossel busts out downtown history and news; and Compassionate Las Vegas, devoted to building a better society.
