☀️ It isn’t easy being a Las Vegan in July. It’s the peak of summer and triple-digit temperatures are a regular thing. Fortunately, we’ve got a few ideas to take your mind off the heat. Some of ‘em even include air conditioning 😉
🌋 Say Goodbye to the Mirage
It’s last call at the Mirage, which closes on July 17, paving the way for the original mega-resort to transform into a Hard Rock property. Cirque du Soleil: The Beatles LOVE ends its run July 6, while illusionist Shin Lim’s Limitless continues until July 14, the final day for hotel reservations. You’ll also want to check out the Mirage’s restaurants and volcano show one more time and take a dip at Bare Pool, which already dropped its tops-optional policy a few years ago.
🇺🇲 Celebrate America!
Just because you see illegal fireworks all over the valley, that doesn’t mean you should do it too. Have fun with the (relatively tame, but still fun) Safe and Sane fireworks on the Fourth of July and check out all the big fireworks shows taking place throughout Southern Nevada.
🍨 Enjoy Sweet Treats
We’re all craving ice cream this time of year. Topgolf has its own ice cream truck (trackable online), which will be handing out free scoops (and other fun stuff) at the Vegas version of Topgolf and The Park outside the New York-New York on July 3. You can also try some new seasonal flavors at Salt & Straw or Sorry Not Sorry, which recently expanded into Centennial Hills with a fourth location.
🏀 Cheer On a Big Month for Basketball
Every year, the NBA Summer League brings future stars of the NBA to Las Vegas for off-season play. The rosters emphasize rookie and sophomore players for a series of games on campus at UNLV. Meanwhile, the WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces face Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever July 2 in a game so big, it was moved to the T-Mobile Arena. The same venue has a special showcase, pitting the all-star national teams of the U.S.A and Canada against each other on July 10.
🍷 Wine & Dine
It’s a great time to sip wine in Las Vegas. Wineaux recently introduced Wine Tasting Wednesdays with three wines and light bites for one price. Crush Pad Wine Bar has a series of tastings throughout the month (Wines of America July 3-4, Wines of Burgundy July 13, and Lesser Known French Wines July 27) and the newly opened DB Wine & Spirits has tastings dedicated to American regions (July 3), the Sonoma Coast (July 18), and biodynamic/organic selections (July 25). Then again, the weather might be best suited for a month-long lineup of sangrias at Jose Andres’ Jaleo at the Cosmopolitan.
