Welcome to the “second-best month of the year,” according to City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler! The weather is reasonable and there’s plenty to do. Here are our recommendations.
🫶 Women’s History Month
Celebrations are ongoing throughout March. The Las Vegas Golden Knights are hosting a Women’s History Month game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 7; the Neon Museum is highlighting local educators and activists who have made history in Vegas all month; “Black Butterfly,” a documentary about the achievements of Black women in Vegas, is screening at the Left of Center Art Gallery on March 22; and there are dozens of free Women’s History Month events happening at our local libraries.
❤️🔥 Romance, With a Twist
Sure, Valentine’s Day is in February, but why not keep romance alive in March? For a dark, comedic take on love, the Majestic Theater is opening “I’m Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire” on March 27, a hilarious satire set in 2004 about a teenage girl plotting to kidnap the actor and marry him.
A hot trend as of late is Pitch-A-Friend, where people present a slide show about a single friend to an audience of other singles looking for a spark. It adds a bit of fun to the hellscape that dating can be. You can sign up to present for free or show up as an audience member.
🏇 Go Outside While You Can
March is one of those months when the temperatures are low enough to safely spend time outside. Vegas pool season officially kicks off this month, and we’ve got the perfect list of the best hotel pools for locals.
For a little more adventure, saddle up and hit up Cowboy Trail Rides — they have several options but I recommend the sunset ride and western barbecue through Red Rock Canyon.
🫔 Let’s Eat!
The annual Tacos and Tamales Festival (March 28-30) will be at the Desert Breeze Events Center this year, featuring the titular Mexican dishes, tequila, lucha libre, and more. For those with a sweet tooth, City Cast Las Vegas podcast co-host Sarah Lohman recommends the ube ice cream from Sorry, Not Sorry Creamery. They have four locations around Las Vegas and are kicking off March with new spring flavors.
We’ve got more recommendations on today’s City Cast Las Vegas show, including RuPaul doing a live reading of his new memoir at The Flamingo.
