Happy 702 Day! What’s that, you say? Well, it’s a brand-new holiday that we may or may not have totally made up to celebrate all things Las Vegas — on 7.02 or July 2.

We grumble about almost everything in Las Vegas, from resort fees to traffic. But there’s a lot to love about this community too. Las Vegas is the brightest city from space, has more magicians per capita than anywhere else, and hosts at least 300 weddings a day 🤯

And you can’t help but love the Vegas Golden Knights, who are throwing a 702 Day celebration to feed those in need and invite fans to watch the team practice at City National Arena with pizza, cookies, raffles, and more.

So, how else do you celebrate the most “Vegas” day ever? Here are a few ideas.

“You don’t have to leave Vegas for a good road trip. Drive through history here at home. Years ago, the City of Las Vegas put together the Pioneer Trail — historic spots to visit in unexpected places like the Binion House, Biltmore Village, the old Moulin Rouge site, and more.”

“The most deeply 702 way to gamble is to do bingo at a Stations Casino.”

— City Cast Las Vegas co-host Sarah Lohman

“Pick one of the local theaters and have a "show, drinks, and discussion." It's a great way to highlight a community theater and give people an opportunity to mingle and chat about the show afterwards. Ideally, the 'drinks and discussion' can be at the theater afterwards or somewhere close by.”

— Andy M.

“For a true 702 Day experience, the Underground Mansion (inside a 50-year-old nuclear fallout shelter). It’s open for special events and charity fundraisers. Here’s my article on it. Thinking I might have my birthday here!”

— Journalist Stacey Gualandi

“My most Vegas day ever is eating my way through Chinatown — as long as you’re willing to battle your way through the parking lots of Spring Mountain. (My insider tip is using the secret lot behind Pho Kim Long.)”

— Executive producer Sonja Cho Swanson

“Have every slot machine I play actually pay me money instead of it taking my money!”

— Cheryl E.

“I'm going straight to Wetlands Park so I can connect to nature … Lots of trails, water, and also lots of coyotes. So you just gotta be careful when you're on the trails.”

— Artist Justin Favela

“For this 702 Day, I'm gonna track down my old ‘Siegfried and Roy: Name the White Tiger’ promotion t-shirt from KLUC, which is a radio station here in town.”

— City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler

"My current favorite thing to do is hire Frank Sinatra to do some drywall work at my house. My handyman plays Frank in The Rat Pack is Back."

— Senior account executive Jackie Cohen

“July 2, 1977 is the day I arrived in Las Vegas with my fighter pilot husband and 10-year-old son. The fighter pilot flew away and the son has moved on, but I'm still here.”

— Carolyn S.
