Earth Day is April 22, which falls on a Monday this year. It’s preceded by a full weekend of local events to celebrate the planet, appreciate our environment, and make Southern Nevada a better place to live.
🪶 Powwow for the Planet
Powwow for the Planet is April 19 (4 - 8 p.m.) and April 20 (11 a.m. - 4 p.m.) on campus at UNLV. Admission is free. Native UNLV and the Las Vegas urban Indigenous community will present authentic music, dancing, art, and food while spreading the word on the importance of protecting sacred land.
🏜️ Lovell Canyon Clean Up
The Brett Torino Foundation and Save Red Rock are leading a litter collection in Lovell Canyon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 20. Bags, gloves, and snacks will be provided. Volunteers are asked to register for free online.
🌎 Earth Day Festival
Raow Raow is teaming up with the City of Las Vegas for an Earth Day Festival at Lorenzi Park from 4:22 to 10 p.m. on April 20. Enjoy the atmosphere with live music (including DJs and Caribbean drummers), vendors, art installations, and a bike valet to encourage visitors to skip the car — for one day at least. Admission is free.
🍄 Fantastic Fungi
Galaxy Theaters at Boulevard Mall presents the 5th anniversary 4K edition of “Fantastic Fungi,” a documentary that examines the unique environmental benefits of mushrooms — from cleaning oil spills to helping trees communicate. Stick around for a Q&A with director Louie Schwartzberg after the 7 p.m. screening on April 20. Tickets are $5.50 – $13.
